I was about to wish all my readers a very Happy New Year, but then my eyes suddenly fell on the date. Goodness gracious, we’re almost halfway through January already! It seemed like just yesterday that we were celebrating New Year eve with homemade goodies. But I guess that’s how time is; like they say, time always seems to fly when you’re happy and having fun. We’ve all had a good fun vacation over the Christmas and New Year and now it’s high time the kids spend a little lesser time on their virtual games and get serious with their studies again.
To start the year on a positive note, I decided to draw up an interview of sorts for my daughter. It’s not an actual interview, just a written one in the form of an interesting worksheet. I managed to scour the internet and came up with quite a few ideas that found their place in my list of questions. Here are some of the questions on my list.
Your happiest moment from 2016: I’m not quite sure what she’ll consider to be her happiest moment, since there were several occasions that come under the category of making her ‘very happy’, now that I come to think of it. For instance, when she got her own goldfish bowl for her room; when she learnt first how to float in water and then eventually swim, when her aunt got married and she had the time of her life being a part of the wedding celebrations.
Your favorite person in the family: I know this is a pretty unfair question to ask a young child, but then I probably want her to write my name instead of her daddy’s, just to have my very own one little moment of fame. But wait, a sudden realization has dawned on me right now while writing this – what if it’s her brother that’s her favorite person in the family? Well, I’ll probably be okay in that case since the kids are not exactly competition here, it’s the husband!
Three goals for the year 2017: Something like resolutions for the New Year. It could be anything – for example, I know for a fact that my son has his heart set on a pair of new roller blade skates and hence is doing his level best to step one up from his skateboard to proper skates. Even I have a goal for myself – to stop eating junk in between mealtimes (this article I read recently has done its bit in motivating me this time). I can state with the utmost conviction that it’ll do me and my middle a whole lot of good. As long as I manage to keep at it, that is.
These detailed questions can be preceded by relatively shorter ones like listing down their favorite book, color and food amongst other things and then comparing their choices with a similar worksheet next year around. Sounds good? Happy New Year!
