Like I said before, I make it a point to celebrate every teeny-weeny occasion that crops up on the calendar (at least I try to, as far as possible). And so, now that something as significant as Earth Day is upon us, here’s how I plan to convert it to ‘Earth weekend’ at home ;-)
Happy Earth Day, folks!
- We’re going to set up a simple, handmade bird feeder in our back garden. An old saucer and a plate-like dish should do the trick. The plate would hold the bird food and the saucer could act like an umbrella to protect the birdies from nature’s harsh elements. (A little help would be required from the husband though in drilling the two together some way). Or else, we have some discarded tin cans that should be able to do the trick.
- We had visited the beach for our annual holiday last year and hence have quite an impressive collection of seashells. The kids and me will get down to painting them in bright hues. They should occupy pride of place on the mantelpiece and not remain stashed away in some unknown corner.
- We’ll make two mud pies – one outdoors and one indoors. Confusing? Well, Timothy will happily rake up an actual muddy mud pie in the garden (he loves doing such messy things) while I will concoct a much more edible mud pie in my kitchen. Fudge topping and a biscuit base? Yummy.
Happy Earth Day, folks!
