Every New Year’s eve I sit myself down and pen down a list of resolutions. And after an year’s time when I find myself sitting down and penning a brand new list of resolutions, I’ve completely forgotten what my resolutions were last year as well as why I made them at all. It’s become sort of an annual ritual for me now.
So this year around, I’ve decided to come up with resolutions I can actually keep and not feel guilty over them later on. Like some of these:
So this year around, I’ve decided to come up with resolutions I can actually keep and not feel guilty over them later on. Like some of these:
- I will make a list of all my passwords and stash it away in a secret place (which I hope I’ll remember when the need arises). It’ll save me a lot of hours which I spend every year recalling (or trying to recall) them.
- I will make sure the kids learn that it’s their job to put the dirty clothes in the laundry bag (and not on the bed, floor, hanging on their doorknobs or in the bathroom sink) and the dirty dishes in the dishwasher (and not on the dining table, kitchen counter, sofa or on the fridge).
- I will make sure I reserve (at least) one day of the week to go out with the husband for a dinner date, sans the kids. We are going to have our peace of mind even if it is only for an hour or so eating our favorite lasagna and fish fries.
- Last but not the least, I’m going to constantly remind myself throughout the year that life is too short to worry about stupid things. There are so many beautiful reasons to be happy and crazy and weird and fun. And as the saying goes: ‘I’m gonna make the rest of my life, the best of my life’.
