The Oxford Dictionary defines the word ‘resolution’ thus: ‘A firm decision to do or not to do something.’ And like every year, I have made a list of three New Year’s resolutions for myself. Here goes:
1. Think ahead about food: This one comes first and foremost on my list, thanks to Forbes (got this idea there). Looking back over the year that went by, I realized that we could have done a lot better on the food front. More often than not, there was no particular plan as far as our meals were concerned. And so, from 1st January onwards, I have decided to sit myself down at the kitchen table every Sunday evening and chalk out a rough meal plan for the coming week. We’re already three weeks into January and thankfully it’s been working till now, touch wood!
2. Read a minimum of two books a month, if not more. There was a time when I used to finish reading two complete novels a week (no exaggeration here!). That seems to be eons ago. And now I’ve set myself a new target – one book (at least) should be done and over with every fifteen days. Come what may.
3. Have a family holiday twice a year. This is my husband’s resolution, not mine. He told me the other day, “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.” And subsequently came his New Year resolution. I can see how fast the kids are growing up and I must say I completely agree with him.
Since it’s still January, wish you all a Happy New Year as well!
