Finally the much-awaited third Sunday of June is here - Father's Day! I came across a rather hilarious set of 'daddy definitions' the other day while reading an article on the subject. Here you go, take a look.
- Free taxi service
- Cash dispenser for children
- Provider of piggy-back rides
- 80 decibel snorer
- Master of the TV remote (though at our place it's the other way round)
- Best BBQ chef ever (beyond doubt!)
- Giver of bear hugs
- Coach of all sports and teacher of all subjects
- Endless source of guidance and encouragement
- Fixer of all things (carpenter, electrician, plumber all rolled into one)
- King of corny jokes
- Superhero loved by mom and Sarah and Timothy
I like the fact that almost all of the above points hold true (except of course the TV remote thing). Also, do check out these wonderful dad-daughter illustrations; they’ll definitely warm the cockles of your heart (did that to me). And hence, to honor and make the most special man in our lives feel extra special, the kids and I have planned the following for him on the occasion of Father's Day.
A Personalized Bookmark

Sarah spent almost two hours making the perfect customized, personalized bookmark for her dad, who loves reading. She picked out some blue color felt paper (her dad’s favorite), cut it into a roughly 3x7 inch rectangle. Then using white felt paper, she traced and cut out the letters ‘D’, ‘A’ and ‘D’. Yellow felt paper was also used to cut out small hearts for decoration and then the letters as well as hearts were glued onto the blue bookmark. I suggested she use one of our old family vacation photographs to glue onto the bookmark and she agreed; so out came a second blue felt paper one in addition to the yellow hearts one - this one was a bit broader than the first since our picture was too big to fit onto a smaller bookmark. Finally she punched holes onto the top of both, slid a ribbon through each and tied them up and the special bookmarks were ready. I'm sure her dad is going to love them.

Gaming Evening

While Sarah was busy working on her bookmark, I asked Timothy what he would like to gift his dad on the occasion of Father’s Day to make him happy. He cocked his head to one side and remarked, "We'll play games. Dad loves games." True that. Both dad and son adore gaming of any sort - be it racing games, pet games or zombie games. That's precisely why on most evenings you'll find both dad and son indulging in all sorts of histrionics in front of the video game console. I guess this Father's Day is going to be no different.

A Chocolate Pudding Cake

This one is from mommy (me). Butter, eggs, salt, granulated sugar, homemade frosting and dark chocolate – these are all the ingredients required to whip up my better half’s all-time-favorite chocolate pudding cake. Care for the recipe? It’s pretty simple; the egg yolks are whisked with granulated sugar in melted chocolate, the egg whites beaten with salt and then added to the chocolate mixture and finally boiling water added to the batter in the baking dish pre-prepared with butter and coated with granulated sugar. Bake for around half an hour and you're done with one of the yummiest and simplest to whip up chocolate pudding cakes ever.

Happy Father’s Day to my husband, my best friend for life and the loving father of my kids. You’re everything I could have ever asked for and more!
